In Loving Memory of Jan Carpenter
Devoted NBGR Volunteer

When we leave this world, we want to leave it a better place. Jan spent every day doing just that, especially for the Brussels Griffon and Affenpinscher breeds she loved so much. Her passing has caused shock, heartbreak, and sadness in our community.

Jan was a devoted NBGR volunteer for over 20 years. Not only was she an adoption coordinator for many of those years, she was also a foster mom for all of them. She opened her arms to many, often as they came in pairs or as special-needs and seniors.

Jan’s commitment made a huge difference in the lives of the Rescues for whom she found homes and the families who adopted them. She cared deeply for every rescued pup, and she invested her time getting to know each so that she could find the perfect home for them. If Jan allowed you to adopt a Griff, congratulations; you cleared a high bar.

Jan was open, honest, and a wealth of information that she gladly shared. She was active on several of the Griffy FB groups, often offering suggestions and advice gathered over her years of experience with the breed.

Our deepest sympathies go to Jan’s family. We know you sacrificed a lot of her time while she worked to create a better world for our Rescues. We know that the many posts you see will be testament to the impact her dedication had on so many of us and how much she was loved and admired.

We are forever grateful to Jan for her devotion and to her family for generously sharing her with us. We can’t overstate how much she will be missed.

Rest in peace, Sweet Friend, and thank you for making our world a better place.
